THE MONOCHROME TONE

June 14, 2015

The monochrome trend is having a fashion moment! From the red carpet to the streets of New York, it’s all about monochrome. Even this year’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards featured gorgeous black and white formal wear.

It is high time to look chic all over by wearing black and white hues. Set aside those vibrant Spring pieces to make room for classic monochrome clothing. The great thing about this trend is even clothing from as far as the 60′s can be styled with modern pieces for an effortlessly chic outfit.

The monochrome trend can be easily integrated into various outfit types. For example, wearing a white blazer with white trousers to the office makes for an elegantly sumptuous corporate attire. Pairing a black sleeveless top with a white circle skirt is the perfect ensemble to wear to brunch or an afternoon tea party. Wearing a black corset with a black maxi skirt or high-waist palazzo pants is an awesome outfit for a night out on the town.

For this easy casual outfit, I styled my white origami skort with a black lace crop top and black barely-there heels. I also added black accessories like oversized eyewear and a tote.

I forever adore gold accents so I couldn’t resist adding gold accessories. It adds a lovely touch to the outfit, don’t you think?

What do you think of my monochrome ensemble? Try out the monochrome trend but don’t forget to put your very own spin on it.
