THE NEW YORK TIMES

Street art

The one place, in this world, that I would absolutely love to live in is definitely New York. That’s right, I wanna be a part of it. New York! New York! Besides being one of the top fashion capitals in the world, this great state is overflowing with so much interesting character that is simply so inspiring. On my last trip to the U.S. I, of course, couldn’t leave without setting foot on this island.

Formation of buildings Adi Amor in front of The Museum at FIT Goodman Center

My first stop was the Fashion Institute of Technology—aka my dream school. FIT is one of the best fashion schools in the world and it’s right at the heart of New York. To get a feel of the place, I got a campus tour then I spent hours admiring the various pieces at the Goodman Center museum.

Street style: A woman in a bright red coat, Chuck Taylors, and shades

I love everything about this place. Even the way people dress on a normal day is pretty awesome. I love how this woman played around with color—the bright red coat matches her dark blue top wonderfully.

Street Style: A woman in a black fur coat, leather bag, and boots.

Never underestimate the sophistication of an all black outfit. I love how this woman put together different textures to add depth to her single color choice.

No visit to New York is complete without shopping! I’m not one to splurge so I did more window shopping than actual shopping shopping. I just love looking at the different store displays and taking in the unique aesthetic of brands.

Spotted this simple but powerful work of art in a random gallery in Soho. In this town, you can always count on something new and exciting on every corner.

Pink flowers in a pot Billionaire Boys Club products

I love the cool and hip interior of the Billionaire Boys Club store. It is completely not my style but the whole feel of the store and its products is just so distinct. I commend Pharrell Williams on this ingenious set-up.

I love the luxurious and feminine feel of the Diane Von Furstenberg store. I don’t know how DVF does it but the moment I set foot in the store, I felt so proud to be a woman of today.

In this city, you’ll never really know what to expect. I just turned a corner then I spotted this random “Fur Sale” pop-up store with a great selection of coats.

Topshop store window display

I am a big fan of Topshop here in the Philippines so imagine what I felt when I saw a whole building of top to bottom Topshop products. I went a little bit crazy especially in the sale section.

Flight Club sneakers display

The Flight Club store is the ultimate place for sneaker fans. Majority of the walls are covered with the rarest and most coveted sneakers you can think of and the rest of it is covered with caps.

The next time you travel to the U.S. or if you already live there, spend a few days in New York. It’s the perfect place to leisurely stroll around in and, in the process, discover great places to shop and eat. New York is one of the places I will always go back to.
