GINO’S BRICK OVEN PIZZA

October 22, 2015

Gino’s is a Neapolitan-style Pizzeria that specializes in delectable brick oven pizza. The menu features italian dishes with touches of Filipino flavors. It also features homemade elements like, spicy honey, sausage, and–my all time favorite–Burrata Caprese. Burrata Caprese is homemade cheese made out of a combination of mozzarella skin, kesong puti, and cream–definitely a must-try!

Gino’s Brick Oven Pizza is the brainchild of Jutes Templo and Cello Templo. That’s right, Cello, as in Cello’s donuts. These food entrepreneurs are also the proud owners of one of the best donut shops in the Philippines.

Spending my whole college life along Katipunan, made me discover hole-in-the-wall type of establishments in the area. I discovered Cello’s donuts first and I just kept going back for their deliciously fluffy donuts, which is how I came across Gino’s.

BACON SAUSAGE PASTA

I am a sucker for anything with bacon so ordering this dish was a no-brainer. The meaty flavor combination of bacon and their homemade sausage was so delicious. The consistency of the al dente pasta mixed beautifully with the silky cream sauce. The whole dish was seasoned to perfection.

MARGHERITA PIZZA

The best thing about pizza baked in a brick oven is the texture of the dough. The crust ends up charred and crunchy on the outside but moist on the inside. Margherita pizza is made out of the most basic ingredients–tomatoes, basil, and cheese–but produces the most divine flavor.
