As a self proclaimed foodie, I am always on the lookout for awesome ways to make my little tummy happy. I especially love it when I can eat as much as I want without worrying about how much everything will cost. Buffets are the perfect eating set up for me but, of course, I can’t do that every single day. Well, maybe I can but that’s borderline gluttonous. I’ve recently discovered a meal that I can actually afford to eat every single day—the Imperial Sets of Boon Tong Kee.
Let your tastebuds go on a delectable adventure around the world through the comforting dishes of Vagabonds! It’s all about layers and layers of melted cheese, crunchy bacon, homey flavors, and the sweetest desserts. Sink your teeth into international dishes with a dash of your favorite Filipino flavors. Go on a palatable journey with me!
Being the sweet tooth that I am, watching Willy Wonka really made me dream of being in a room filled with all the chocolate in the world. I know it’s such a childish dream to have but it’s still one of my dreams in life. The closest I have ever gotten to a room literally filled with tons and tons of chocolates is Jacques Torres’ chocolate shop in New York. It’s like I died and ended up in chocolate heaven. Every single corner of the store was decked out with every type of chocolate you can imagine—it was so amazing!
If you want to get the best meal of your life, you need access to the freshest ingredients and people who know how to cook things right. There is a big difference between dining at a Farm-to-Table type of place as compared to the typical restaurant setting. Personally, I prefer the Farm-to-Table set up but I discovered something even better. On my last trip to New York I came across one of the most interesting food concepts I’ve experienced so far—Eataly.
Have you ever wondered where the Cronut really came from? It’s what happens when a croissant and a donut get married and have babies. This world famous pastry has the shape and taste of a donut with the flaky texture and buttery taste of a croissant. This decadent pastry was created by Dominique Ansel in his New York Bakery.
I am a loyal fan of the Food Network so anything they say about food is law. These FLOUR Sticky Buns were once featured on the Unique Sweets TV show and from the moment I saw those layers of succulent dough overflowing with sugary goodness I just knew I just had to have them. As soon as I got over my jetlag phase, I went straight to Boston’s South End for the sweetest breakfast of my life. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip or should I say sugar-highlights?
Have you ever heard the saying “Life is short, eat dessert first”? This is my favorite (food) quote of all time! My whole life is based on this quote (just kidding! Or am I?). Seriously though, I not only eat dessert first but I even take it as far as devouring a whole meal of purely delectable desserts in one sitting. I feel incomplete without dessert, that’s how much I love it. So imagine the level of happiness I felt when I first set foot at NIC’S–I was in dessert heaven! All my favorite desserts (and so much more) in one room, just waiting to be devoured.
Discovered a casual fusion restaurant amidst all the night spots on Durban Street in Makati City. Bistro Mondo is the brainchild of Chef Steven Scudder and Edna Sandejas that serves a mix of American, Italian, and French dishes. It’s refreshing to come across a site that features trapezoidal exteriors and modern interiors. The dishes are thoughtfully plated, cooked to perfection, and simply delicious. Every single dish I tried was homey but, at the same time, worldly.
If I had a dollar for every single time someone dines with me and asks “where does it all go?” I seriously would not need to work a day in my life. I am completely obsessed with anything that has to do with food. I know it’s the last thing you’ll think of when you look at me, but ask anyone I know and they’ll vouch for my surprisingly big appetite. Like any normal foodie, I frequent buffets, experiment with new recipes, watch food channel, and the like. This is exactly why I am very excited to share big news about my go-to restaurant for authentic Singaporean Cuisine–Boon Tong Kee!
Gino’s is a Neapolitan-style Pizzeria that specializes in delectable brick oven pizza. The menu features italian dishes with touches of Filipino flavors. It also features homemade elements like, spicy honey, sausage, and–my all time favorite–Burrata Caprese. Burrata Caprese is homemade cheese made out of a combination of mozzarella skin, kesong puti, and cream–definitely a must-try!
